How to Record Rap Vocals in Logic Pro and Use a Preset

Want to record rap vocals in Logic Pro without getting lost in plugins first? Start with a clean take. You can shape the sound after recording, but a preset cannot replace a good performance or repair every recording problem.

1. Set up an audio track

Connect your mic, create an audio track in Logic Pro on Mac and select the correct input. Do a short test while listening through headphones. Check that the input is coming through clearly and that your recording is not distorting. Apple's recording checklist covers the track and input setup.

2. Record the verse, then listen back

Select your vocal track, move to the part of the beat where you want to start and press Record. You can record another take if the timing or delivery feels off. Apple's recording guide shows the basic controls. Listen to the raw take before reaching for effects. If the words are unclear or the audio is already distorted, fix the recording first.

3. Add a vocal preset as a starting point

Once you have a take you like, load a vocal channel strip setting and adjust it for your voice and beat. Logic Pro lets you load channel strip settings from the Setting menu, as shown in Apple's guide.

The Lil Kleine-inspired preset for Logic Pro uses built-in Logic plugins and includes an installation guide. Lil Kleine is a Dutch rapper. This is an independent style-inspired preset, not his actual vocal chain or an official collaboration. The product page also has before-and-after audio so you can hear the direction before buying.

In short: record a clean vocal first, then use the preset to speed up the mix. If that workflow fits you, listen to the demo and check the Logic Pro preset.
