Note to Frequency Chart
How it works
Enter a frequency in Hz and you see right away which note it is, and how many cents you're off. The table shows the frequency of every note, from octave 0 to 8. The highlighted cell is the note closest to your Hz.
Handy for your 808
Does your tuner or analyzer show a frequency instead of a note? Enter it here and you know which note your 808 is on. An 808 sits low, so look mainly at the lowest octaves. How to fix it after that is in how to tune an 808 in FL Studio, how to tune an 808 in Ableton Live or how to tune an 808 in Logic Pro.
The formula
The table uses A4 = 440 Hz. Every semitone up, the frequency is multiplied by the twelfth root of 2, about 1.0595. One octave up is exactly twice as high. So A3 is 220 Hz and A5 is 880 Hz. A cent is a hundredth of a semitone.
Tuning to a different reference, like 432 Hz? Change the A4 field. The whole table updates.
Heads up: not every DAW numbers octaves the same way. In this table, A4 is the A at 440 Hz. So look at the note and the frequency, not just the octave number.
