What BPM Is Hip Hop?
Hip hop usually sits between 70 and 100 BPM. Classic boom bap is often around 85 to 95.
70 to 100 BPM
Boom bap
Boom bap is the kick (boom) and snare (bap) of 90s hip hop. Snare on 2 and 4, usually with some swing. Around 90 BPM there's room for a wordy flow without it sounding rushed.

Hip hop or trap?
A trap beat at 140 feels like 70. So hip hop and trap can feel alike even though the numbers are far apart. Not sure? Tap along and see if ÷2 makes more sense.
