What BPM Is Trap?

Trap usually sits between 130 and 150 BPM. A lot of trap beats land right around 140.

130 to 150 BPM

Why does trap feel slower than 140?

Trap is almost always made in half-time. The snare hits on 3 instead of 2 and 4, so 140 BPM feels like 70. That's why you'll see the same beat listed as 70 or 140. Both are right, it just depends on how you count.

The speed is in the hi-hats. Rolls in 1/16 and 1/32 make it busy while the groove itself stays laid back. That's why you can rap slow or fast on the same beat. Making one yourself? Read how to make a trap beat in FL Studio.
