Type Vocal Presets: Hear the Before and After of Every Sound
Share
Picking a preset by name is a gamble. That is why every Type vocal preset on this page has a short video: the same dry rap vocal, first without and then with the preset. In a few seconds you hear what it does to a voice.
Turn your sound on, ideally with headphones, and play a few sounds back to back. Don't only listen for what sounds best, listen for what fits your voice and your beat. Still not sure? How to pick a vocal preset for your voice walks you through it. The new sounds also have their own guide with recording tips and the usual pitfalls of that style.

How to compare the videos
- Listen in two places. First on headphones, then on your phone speaker. A sound that works on both works almost anywhere.
- Listen for three things. How close the voice feels, how bright it is and how much space is around it. That is where these sounds differ most.
- Think about your own voice. Every video uses the same dry vocal. Your voice and mic color the result, so pick a direction that suits you and fine-tune from there.
- Think about your beat. An airy, open sound can drown on a dense, hard beat. A dry, tight sound can feel bare on a calm one.
FAQ
Do I need extra plugins?
No. The presets only use the stock plugins in FL Studio Signature or Logic Pro. Every preset shows which DAW it is for.
Will it sound exactly like the video on my voice?
Not exactly, because your voice, mic and room are different. The preset gives you the direction and a solid base. Then you fine-tune it to your own recording.
How do I set the autotune right?
Set Pitcher or Pitch Correction to the key of your beat. Not sure what the key is? Drop the beat into the free Beat Lab.
